SURVIVORS' STORIES

REBECCA STIVERS

I am 23 and a survivor of Burkitts Lymphoma. I only recently learned how rare it is and I feel honored to have overcome it. I endured 6 months of aggressive chemo at the age of 15. I no longer have oncologist follow ups and have suffered no long term side effects.

I now work at a doctor's office as a medical assistant and hope to one day write for a living.

I have a son who is nearly 5. The first words out of my oncologists mouth were not "you're so young" but "YOU'RE FERTILE."

My life at times is full of hardship and great confusion but I am reminded that I have overcome so much that it is really not that bad.
